Administration Guide
General Information
In the configuration area you can set the conditions on how you define your Compliance structure. Data Classes are the levels you can set on pages to classify them. Schemes are structures to define which Data Classes should be combined together as usable selections on pages. You can define unlimited Data Classes and assign them to Schemes. Schemes then can be assigned to spaces.
A simple guide to follow:
Create your e.g. security levels as Data Classes
Set up your Scheme or multiple Schemes as needed
Assign Data Classes to your Schemes as needed
Assign Schemes to the Spaces as needed
After that you’re good to go and classify your pages.

Hide User ID in Page Logs
To comply fully with GDPR regulations you can disable the user information in the page log to ensure no traceability to users and their profiles is possible.

To comply fully with GDPR regulations you can disable the user information in the change log in the Confluence Administration to ensure no traceability to users and their profiles is possible.
Apply Default Scheme to new Spaces
You can apply the scheme which is set as default automatically to all new spaces to ensure that a standard classification set is available on all pages for your users.
Apply Default Scheme to existing Spaces
You can apply the scheme which is set as default automatically to all existing spaces to ensure that a standard classification set is available on all pages for your users.
Please be careful using the “Apply Default Scheme to existing Spaces” as this action might take some time to finish depending on the size of your data (spaces and page).
Data Class Configuration
Define your Compliance levels, Severity levels or other types of data classification definition in this configuration area. For each Data Class you can set:
Name (mandatory)
Description (optional)
Color (mandatory)
Icon (optional)
Scheme (optional)
You can assign Data Classes to a Scheme in the creation screen or afterwards when you configure Schemes.
Scheme Configuration
In the Scheme configuration you can set up compliance schemes as needed and assign the Data Classes to the appropriate Schemes. Each Scheme can be defined by:
Name
Description
Activated or Deactivated state
Set as Default Scheme
Please be aware that you can just have one Default Scheme but multiple active Schemes.
Space Configuration
In the Space Configuration as administrator you will see all spaces available in your instance. You can assign & un-assign Schemes to Spaces as needed. After assigning a Scheme to a Space you will be able to set page classifications on the space pages based on the Scheme configuration.
Please make sure your scheme has some Data Classes assigned. Otherwise you can’t assign anything in the space even if a Scheme is assigend.
Reports
The Reports shares insights on the spaces which does have a current or had a past Scheme assignment. The difference will be highlighted so you understand directly if this is a Report of a space with an active Scheme assignment or not.
The data provided by the reports are:
Page count of all pages in the space
Page count of pages with an assigned Data Class
Page count of pages which are not assigned to a Data Class
Additional the distribution of pages with a Data Class will be displayed as a pie chart to directly understand the distribution in the space.

Change Log
The Change Log documents all changes whether in the administration or on pages. If configuration is set or changed in the Confluence administration each change will be recorded precisely. If Data Classes on pages being changed these changes will be recorded too. The documentation per record covers the following;
Timestamp
User who did the change
Event Type (User-> Configuration, User-> Page, System-Automation)
Change
Item Affected
Reason (e.g. this is optional if a page Data Class is changed user can provide a reason)
Important information to understand how the App works
The following information helps you understand the logic of configurations over time, or by multiple usage or used in combination. Please read this carefully:
All pages can be classified based on your configuration but for one exception. The main start pages of Spaces in Confluence can not be classified due current technical restriction with Atlassian Forge. This will be covered in the future if these constrains are changed by Atlassian.
The “Hide User ID in the Log” features are not deleting any data. The purpose is as named just to hide the user ID information and profile link, so a application user can not track another application user. The data in the backend of course still does exist. And by deactivating the features the user ID and profile link information are displayed again.
Default functions for Schemes - there is just the possibility to have one default scheme at a time. It is not possible to have multiple schemes with the state default. You can have unlimited schemes but always just one “default” scheme.
There is no limitations on how much Data Classes you create. Please be aware that if you do not assign a Data Class to a Scheme which is not assigned to a space, these Data Class will not be available to be used by your application users.
The feature “Bulk assign Default Scheme to existing spaces” can be used as needed. Please be aware of your configuration and your critical need before using this feature. First this job might take a lot of time to finish depending on the size of your instance. Secondly alls your spaces will be auto-assigned to the “Default Scheme” of your current configuration. Please understand this and think carefully before proceeding with this feature.
if you activate this feature alls EXISTING SPACES which have NO SCHEME assigned to them will get the current DEFAULT SCHEME assigned. Deactivating the feature afterwards, does NOT ROLE BACK this action.
if you deactivate this feature and more space are created after some time you might use this bulk feature again to assign your at that time current DEFAULT SCHEME to EXISTING SPACES which have NO SCHEME assigned to them.
Point b is NOT NECESSARY if you decide to activate the “Bulk assign Default Scheme to all new created spaces” feature.
The reports provides you dense insight on the data class usage and distribution. But building and fetching the data is not happening instantly and might take some time due to technical circumstances. The data packages are fetched in batches of 3-5 minutes to collect and update a set of data depending on the size of your application this might take minutes to hours to fully accommodate accuracy.
If you set up “Permissions” in data classes (Data Class tab), these permission will be set accordingly to this logic:
On the page the permission for general access state changes to:
RESTRICTED ONLYOn the page the permission for specific access the state changes to: EDIT ONLY → ACCORRDING TO YOUR DATA CLASS PERMISSION SETTING FOR USER(S) AND/OR GROUP(S)
If you allow access for Anonymous users on your instance and pages, these anonymous users can NOT see the data classification on the pages they visit.
